Successful productronica – great interest in connectivity solutions

Type of event: Event

Full booth, constructive discussions and positive feedback show us that the productronica is an important platform for Weller. “We presented our product highlights to a global audience and we had a lot of interesting and high quality conversations and discussions," shares Thomas Schulz, Vice President, Sales, EMEA. "The great interest in connectivity solutions shows that digitalization has taken an important role in the electronics manufacturing industry. Weller is already connecting the bench, and we're ready for the future." Weller connecting the bench Focal point of the Weller booth was connectivity solutions for soldering, the trending subject in the electronics manufacturing sector. What has been controlled manually and via cable is becoming digitized. Weller has long been able to exchange data from fume extraction systems with soldering stations or traceability systems. At productronica visitors were convinced of the next level towards the future: Introducing the Weller Smart Workbench – Cloud-based data exchange between work bench and central input devices.
New automated soldering system WTBR 1000 Huge interest was also shown in the new automated bench top soldering solution, the WTBR 1000: a one-of-a-kind synergy of precision, consistency and protection of soldering tasks. Weller Efficiency Line With the new Efficiency platform Weller presented further optimal solutions for cost-conscious soldering applications. Simple and efficient – while concentrating on the essential. Weller Sponsor des IPC Hand Soldering Competition It was also exited at the IPC Hand Soldering Competition. Weller was gold sponsor of this event and awarded the winner with a Weller soldering station.
1st Conference on Soldering Technologies in Turkey

Type of event: Trade Fair

On the 21st of September, the 1st Conference on Soldering Technologies took place in Ankara. This conference was organised by Yildirim Elektronik for many of their customers. The day-long technical seminar gave the opportunity for presenters to explain the theory behind what their businesses do and to show what they provide to their customers to alleviate challenges faced by customers. Mr Berkay Ergen, Sales and Marketing Director of Yildirim Electronic, opened the event. Gerald Gardener, Senior Technical Application Specialist from Weller, presented on robotic soldering in general and used the opportunity to showcase the WTBR 1000 soldering robot, highlighting its unique features and benefits. The attendees then gathered around the robot to see it perform several automated soldering tasks whilst Gerald was on hand to answer the many questions asked. Weller’s Sales Manager Ouadie Lakrimi was also present throughout the day to answer questions on the range of Weller hand soldering products on display. Other presenters included: Mr. Michael Mendel of Almit who explained the chemistry behind solder and fluxes. Dr Wolf from Wolf - Produktionssysteme focused on laser soldering technology. The last presentation was from Mr Lars Wallin from IPC who discussed IPC class 1, 2 and 3 solder classification. The event was very well organised even down to having live translators to translate into portable earpieces. Turkey is a growing electronics market and this event will become a regular fixture on Yildirim’s calendar. Weller will gladly assist in the future if possible. Learn more at

The Weller booth attracted many new customers to our booth at the 2017 IPC Apex Trade Show in San Diego. Front and center was the Weller Bench that highlighted our “Owning the Bench” strategy. The booth was segmented by our Efficiency, Technology and Performance platforms. The bench focused on the new Technology Line – Generation WT - and also included Erem products, the PCB holder and the new fume extraction system Zero Smog TL. Next to that – we featured the Efficiency Line via a prototype of the new WE1 soldering station, which received very favorable VOC comments. The Performance Line section included the fully-functioning WX platform (WX 2 and WXR 3 rework stations), complemented by an array of soldering pencils – with the micro tweezers again receiving a lot of attention. Also the live demonstrations for of the WTQB 1000 rework system produced huge interest. Featured on the center tower were three large monitors – running a continuous loop of the “attention-getting” videos of the WT, WTQB 1000, Fume Extraction, WX 2 and FlowinSmart. A high number of leads were collected during the show. We all agreed - another successful IPC Apex Trade Show!
